Description

The biodynamic green bean type “Pongo” is part of the family of legumes and is grown according to a model of sustainable development that helps to preserve the ecosystem. This practice gives the beans exceptional organoleptic and nutritional qualities.

It has a full consistency, an elongated shape and an intense green colour. The internal seeds, arranged longitudinally, vary in colour from yellowish-white to more or less intense green.

They contain a lot of water and have a diuretic and purifying action that is always useful. They are also a good source of mineral salts, especially potassium, and vitamins such as A and C.

Biodynamic agriculture adopts techniques that respect the natural ecological balances:

  • defence against harmful insects is carried out with the use of useful insects;
  • the fertility of the soil is maintained and enhanced with natural fertilizers obtained from the heaps of manure and agronomic practices such as green manure;
  • weed protection is carried out without any pesticides, using mechanical, agronomic and physical techniques.

Green beans contain beta-carotene, lutein and other antioxidants, which help our body to protect itself from the action of free radicals and prevent premature aging of the eyes and skin.

Green beans are sensitive to environmental conditions, so it is best to store them at a temperature just below that of the environment and consume them quickly.

Even if their properties make them similar to vegetables, green beans belong to the family of legumes, they are called so because they are nothing more than beans that have not yet ripened.
